Am i the only one not conned by this comely pair? - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

I didn't want to see this movie to begin with, but my mother really wanted to see it. I already had a preconceived bias to it, thinking this whole brad/angelina affair was more marketing stunt and sly manipulation of their fan base than anything of substance.
Regardless if the undeniably attractive onscreen pair are a couple in real life, looking good, cheesy banter, countless explosions, and preening behind a bountiful pucker on screen does not a good film make.
Yes, Angelina is a hottie. But fluttering her eyelashes and treating us to the many steep angles of mug is not my idea of compelling acting. I didn't buy into anything she was selling. There is nothing charming about her other than her physical attributes. She is not funny, talented or memorable beyond her exotic features. I found her performance wooden and flat.
The camera loves her costar too, but his acting did not convince me of any chemistry, or hide the fact that the script was a real stinker.
I felt the director expected the looks of his stars and the offscreen gossip to compensate for a mediocre script and high school drama class acting.
At many points in the movie, I felt we were watching Brad and Angelina read lines and make goo goo eyes at each other rather than seeing two people in character.
An ego-fest all around, and if the entire country buys into this load of fluff I would not be surprised at all.
