F is for fake! stop buying jolie's vain b.s.! - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

I never thought I'd say this but... please bring back Britney Spears!
At least when Spears was the queen of gossip rags, she never forced her phony, do-gooder, globetrotting, baby-adopting, bleeding heart, I only care about saving the world b.s. on the rest of us like Jolie... all while massively overhauling her original, god-given face with plastic surgery overkill.
(For the Jolie fans who can't fathom this, do a search on "Angelina Jolie nose job" to find out where her money goes when she's not donating to charity.)
Many women could be the "sexist woman alive" if they could pay for the work she's had.
Can we please stop rewarding know-nothing, self-absorbed narcissists like Pitt and Jolie by not buying any more tabloid magazines?
If she wants to "save the world," she should just do us all a favor and get out of show biz and move to Africa. That would save us from her ad nauseum protestations of being a "decent person" and a real "humanitarian" all while gagging us with a pitchfork with her "look at me" antics and store bought beauty.
Jennifer Aniston may not be a sex bomb, but she's got a real depth to her personality and character that shines through without her even having to say a word about all this media nonsense. While Jolie goes around tooting her horn by pretending to be good, all she is to me is a attention-starved woman desperate to con any male of the species with her overblown sexuality and annoying politics.

Dynamic duo - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

I think that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie make an awesome couple in this movie. The story is very clever and both actors make the movie even better - there is definate on-screen chemistry. I usually do not like big action movies but this movie makes the action fun...I was surprised at how many times I found myself laughing as something was being blown up or someone was shooting something. I definately would request seeing this movie if you want to see a fun film.

The smith couple - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

I thought this movie was fantastic. I beleive that this movie deserved more stars than the critics gave it. This movie was filled with action and comedy. There was never a dull moment in this movie. It was an awesome movie and was very enjoyable to watch.

Girl's rule - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

...that's all I have say about Angelina. Perfect femme to play that part (and Nicole Kidman new better). I thought I would be seeing a more glamorized version of War of the Roses (with Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas) but..uhm..it was much more. Brad Pitt was luscious as ever and the juicy apple I was looking forward to seeing the most but I must admit that my girl Gina..from her red stiletto boots to her Laura Croft Kiss ass combat confidence...she was the better of the two to me. The movie is 2 hours long and starts off necessarily just a teeny bit slow but it does nothing but gets better from there. Its hard to give a review without spilling the beans but I can say it is worth getting off your couch, slip in a cute tank and skirt and have your guy spend 10.00 for the evening. The movie is perfect eye candy for both of you. The only that I didnt like is that I wish they gave more uhmp! to Brad's character to even out the fierceness between the two but he was incrediblly charming. Oh and I wasnt too fond of the ending action scene..a bit cheesy but forgiveable according to the mood of this movie. The movie is fun. Its funny and fun to watch and definitely worth more than waiting for it to come out on DVD. It was what I hoped it to be.

I had a great fun. - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

With two hot stars, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, it should be a great one, I thought.
In fact, this film is extremely good in one sense, and extremely bad in another.
The story is actually disgusting, awful. The biggest flaw of the plot is at the end. Why killing all those "nobodies" in that big store would help finishing the whole thing? Where were their bosses? The bosses were the ones trying to kill them both. If not all of them died, the bosses should keep calling people to finish the Smiths off.
Anyway, having a couple who have married for 5 or 6 years, not known each other's secrets, and then suddenly all the fighting and telling truths, is really fun and fresh to be put on the wide screen.
On the other hand, I think the fighting action scenes are awesome. I don't mean they fought beautifully, in fact I'm not a person who likes action films very much. The awesome thing is the audience (well, at least me) could feel the Smiths' being desperate to finish each other off. And at the same time, we (again, at least me) could also see that they didn't actually want each other to die. I think the confusion there was really presented well. At least, I think it was.
Somebody regard movies as art, while some think it's good to serve with pop corns and cola. To be honest, I buy both theories. I had a great fun watching Mr and Mrs Smith.
By the way, the background music was not bad. Especially those original instrumental ones.

Great movie, lots of fun! - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

this movie was great: it had some really funny moments, a clever and original story, great actors who have fantastic screen chemistry, brilliant special effects and action scenes, and it didn't lag at all!
bottom line is: this movie is entertaining and fun - isn't that what movies are supposed to be? sure, i love a good drama or sci-fi, but once in a while, i like a smart, funny, sexy movie. right now, this is it.

Vince vaughn should be in all movies. - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

"Mr. and Mrs. Smith" in a nutshell: Good action sequences. Vince Vaughn being funny. Brad Pitt singing. Angelina Jolie with guns (plural). A minivan chase. And Adam Brody wearing a "Fight Club" T-shirt while being taken hostage by Brad Pitt (who is, in fact, the star of "Fight Club"). FINALLY, a movie that really does have everything.

Almost all time worst movie ever - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

This movie was one of those hollywood money making trickerys. It casts beautiful Angelina Jolie as the leading lady and even prettier Brad Pitt. To lure us movie goers and bam slap in the face. The biggest waste of $10. Was the second WORST movie of all time....

The smith's - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

They sent a BOY to do a man's job.... Why don't his co-star get her lips fixed (or has she? ) They always look chapped. Kinda reminds me of a fish we caught last summer!
I'm kinda glad Brad and Jen split. She can do much better and if wants to settle for used goods...so be it. At least she has lots and lots of experience!!!!!
A terrible movie.

Are you surprised? - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

Personally, I don't find anything special about the looks of either Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie. For those who do, did you actually expect these movies to be good. They can't act. What happened to the days when hollywood paid people who looked good AND could act? Tom Cruise is one of the last and he's getting older now. We need real leading men and women, not those who would be better off in porn movies.

An awesome movie all have to see!! - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

I thought this movie was going to be boring well first because of the title, kind of corny and second I'm not a fan of Jolie and third how is this movie going to be like. Also, thought I'll wait when it comes out in the DVD. Friend of mine got me a ticket for free and saw it. I'm telling you it was a great movie! I do highly recommended especially if you are into action and comedy/humor. I thought it was well done, movie just flows, a sense of direction. Personally, I enjoyed watching it and laughed from beginning to end. It was good to where I wouldn't mind watching it again, but this time my money is worth it.

Prizzi's honor - the early years? - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

Hollywood needs to make some original movies, instead of re-hashing old ideas with the big stars of the time. We need more independant film makers being able to show their movies to the masses.

Very well done... - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

I loved the movie. I have no idea what all these people who hated it are bitchin about. ::rolling eyes::
I thought that the tension between the 2 was very well done. It kinda reminded me of the movie Rush Hour because it had plenty of action but it was funny at the same time.

A great surprise! - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

The concept of the movie sounded dumb at first, but I found the movie very entertaining! I think Pitt and Jolie had great chemistry together and took a chance with this movie. It was different from all other movies that seems to be the same thing over and over. It was cute but at the same time thrilling. It had romance, comedy and action! What more could you ask for?
Over all, it was a fun movie!

Nothing to be dissapointed in here. - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

Good flick. It isn?t supposed to ever take itself seriously, and never trods that ground. There is always a lot of subtlety behind whatever Limon does and it exists here too, enough to pull you in if you can see it. Every action scene is somewhat cheeky, they are used here more for layering and underlying the relationship than for any sort of derisive trail or acme to the movie.
In one scene Pitt is attempting to reenter his locked house where his gun wielding wife is attempting to blow his head off. He cracks a pain of glass on the second floor, then interestingly, pauses to check for bullets coming his way, as they might, had he alerted her to his presence. Near the end a reference back to the beginning of the film but also to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid keeps you guessing as to the outcome of the last act.
Though the script is somewhat choppy toward the end and the editing room did them no favors with the final cut especially with the final scene, the whole story works well enough. Far far more interesting characters than War of the Roses, as someone here remarked, and personalities (actors) that hold your interest in a much more associative way.
The fairly well educated crowd in my area laughed along throughout and clapped at the end.

A charming tale of a crumbling marriage - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

?Mr. & Mrs. Smith? opens with John and Jane Smith (Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie) undergoing a round of marital therapy. The counselor asks the couple, ?How long have the two of you been married,? to which John replies ?five years? and Jane, ?six?. The two exchange looks that indicate only one of them can be correct (Jolie), while the other (Pitt) severely mistaken. John goes on to say, ?Five or six years.? At this point, only a few minutes have gone by in the movie and already highly effective chemistry has been established between the two principle leads. This chemistry goes on to last the entire two hour running length, never dissipating or showing signs of letting up. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are playing high-class suburban characters and are using their own personal experiences of high-class failed marriages to spark a realistic depiction of a crumbling high-class suburban marriage in a very comedic, very playful manner. It all works and it?s fun to watch these two beautiful people snap at each other, whether such is done verbally or physically with the assistance of high-tech gunplay. And, in short, the film works even when it probably shouldn?t because of this ability to play off each other so well.
Working with such great chemistry, the two are able to make this story a progressively entertaining affair. The suburban life, in which they return to after a day of assassinating targets appointed by their opposing agencies, is where the real fun is at. After all the excitement of killing people and performing daring escapes, each of them come home believing that the other is an authentic, domesticated spouse, when in reality (at least in this film?s reality) they are both staring at reflections of their own, self-generated facades.
When John comes home from work, he wonders if Jane has done something different in the preparation of the night?s meal, to which she replies, ?I added peas.? John nods with the sudden realization and says, ?Ahh, yeah, the greens.? While John was away at work, Jane had taken the time out of her busy schedule to buy curtains for the living room windows; curtains John dislikes and suggests she return. Jane stares at the curtains in contemplation and says, ?You?ll learn to like them.? It?s little instances like these ones that highlight the film more so than the action sequences. The dialogue is witty and between Pitt and Jolie, the exchange of this banter flows so effortlessly, you just have to sit back and watch it go, marveling at the sparks that are flying even when they?re not supposed to. A lot of what makes their arguments fun to watch is that, as an audience, we know that these two are from opposing spy agencies, while the characters are completely oblivious of the fact ? a credit to the film?s writer who structured the script in such a way that the mere setup becomes humorous.
Once the two characters discover each other?s true identity through a hit in which both of them arrive at the same time to kill, the film becomes a different type of engaging. The first 40 minutes of the film were engaging in a romantic-comedy sense, while the middle of the film becomes engaging because this romance is threatened by a sudden realization of who these two people really are. Even so, the situation is approached in a darkly humorous way and is nicely interwoven into the thriller aspects of the story ? the comedic undertone remains consistent throughout the picture. One of my favorite scenes in ?Mr. & Mrs. Smith? is when the two confront each other to discuss their dilemma while dancing at a high-class restaurant. Both feel betrayed, both answer questions with more questions, and both realize that they were a part of a ?five or six? year job. All of this confrontation is done amidst their dancing, which becomes increasingly more violent as their conversation grows more and more personal. Before you know it, the two engage in an all-out, if somewhat brief, war that has them trying to blow each other up, until their guns are aimed at each other at close range, and neither of them can pull the trigger. Their love for each other, turns out, hasn?t died and they demonstrate this with a sexual wrestling match that has them breaking all sorts of furniture.
It?s when the film reaches this point, that it turns into a stunt show that feels like an overblown inconsistency with how the film was originally paced. After kissing, punching, and making up, Pitt and Jolie are faced with their agencies trying, relentlessly, to kill them. For ?Mr. & Mrs. Smith?s? third act, the genre switches gears to a strictly action-picture. The marital banter does indeed still exist at this point of the game, but they are more like commas inserted to punctuate a run-on sentence of repetitive, tedious action. Before, the film had interpreted these government agencies as providing low-key, little attention, incognito assassinations, but when it comes to the agencies trying to assassinate their own, they blow up buildings and shoot at cars on freeways congested with innocent bystanders. What was once a fun and smart film, turns into a completely illogical action film, that may have been fun to watch in its first ten minutes of presentation, but quickly evolves into a boring affair as soon as another minute of the same sequence passes. Just how many ways can a person shoot a gun? Apparently there aren?t nearly enough ways to sustain audience interest, or at least mine.
The final act aside, ?Mr. & Mrs. Smith? is a thoroughly entertaining summer movie that would have benefited greatly from a more low-key, toned down action, rather than the overblown spectacle director Doug Liman opted for. Because the film demonstrates a mastery for the romantic-comedy genre, resorting to a Michael Bay third act (that doesn?t even resolve the dilemma, unless they managed to kill everyone belonging to both agencies mind you) is somewhat insulting. ?Mr. & Mrs. Smith? could have been so much more, but instead decides to be so much more of the same.

I love it - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

angelina jolie & brad pitt make this movie so SEXY. i love it. action, comic, romance, & in my opinion.. oscar-worthy acting. this review probably did not tell you much.. JUST G0 WATCH IT :)

Mr smith goes to washington - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

This movie is good with great chemistry between Brad and Jen... I meant Angelina Jolie. The idea of two assassins living together for 5 years w/out finding out one another as assassins seemed illogical, especially since they're both topnotch professional assasssins w/ all the means to extract info about their mate. Aside from that, this movie was great with great action sequences and great subtle jokes. Angelina looks even hotter as an assassin. Brad was okay. I would like to see Angelina and Brad go up against The Bride from Kill Bill. NOw that would be one crazy movie.

Aint what i expected - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

Now I can't say that the movie is bad, but it really doesn't prove worthy. Frankly, Angelina doesn't give that much of a performance(ya i dont like her but really, not so good acting in this one) and brad left a better impression. I kinda felt that there is a missing link in the movie but I can't quite pinpoint it.
The movie was ok, I had fun watching it, but really you dont go out hearing many wows after the movie so I should've probably waited for madagascar or the longest yard.

Review the movie, not the stars - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

Alot of people are trashing this movie because of the Pitt/Aniston break-up & the Pitt/Jolie rumors. If you spend your money to go to movies so you can judge the personal lives of the actors, save yourself a few bucks-STAY HOME & READ THE ENQUIRER! If you go to movies to get away from reality & just have a good time, this movie was a joyride. Yeah, the story line & action scenes were unrealistic but no more so than Star Wars, James Bond, or a hundred other movies. This isn't a movie that was meant to make you more socially aware, it was meant to be fun.

Hu?? - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

I was baffled to see that at the same time Angelina G. and Brad P. confess their love (making) I see that the news about their new film wasn't too far behind. After seeing the film I now know why such a lame publicity stunt was used. First off, the movie sucks, and second the only appeal to the film is that while you watch it you can imagine Angelina receiving Brads? "man brick" with the utmost satisfaction. I would say that if the film were more pornographic and less hollywoodrific I would have enjoyed myself a lot more than I did.
P.S. I gave the visuals and A+ due to Angelinas' perfectly executed mammary bounce techniqe.
I.Q. Rating: I give this film a ?85 (Special)

"i missed you". "i missed you too"! - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

The above was the best line in the movie. I had a great time watching this movie. Its check the brains at the door and have fun. Great intrigue between the two stars and nice fights, both verbal and physical. It was made to be fun and IT WAS.

Lacking luster - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

If you are expecting "snap, crackle, pop" chemistry between Pitt and Jolie, you will be disappointed. True, they were suppose to be bored after 5-6 years of marraige but even when they were "hot", they failed to bring it to the screen. It was a predictable story line that offered very little.

Pure junk - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

If you haven't figured it out yet Pitt can't act to save his own life. Hollywood wake up quit paying him to be in the movies. If he really left Jennifer for that thing he's with not only can he not act he's just flat out stupid. Beside all of that the movie is really dumb the pretense for the movie is dumb and who ever wrote the script needs a new job also. Come on Brad Pitt with a gernade launcher come on he couldn't care fork. Go waste your money on the Honeymooners at least they only expect laughs there.

Mr. and mrs. suck!!!!!!! - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

This movie is about two morons with guns lookin' hot and sucking. After ten minutes you hope they shoot each other quickly so you can leave. This movie stinks as bad as a dirty diaper filled with indian food covered in burnt hair. The only redeeming quality of the movie is that it is at least filled with cool clothes and pretty shoes.

Bonnie and clyde meets war of the roses!!!!! - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

This was a fun film. I believe that what Roger Ebert said about the chemistry between Pitt and Jolie makes this movie. It definitely does. This movie also breaks through some barriers in regards to male and female stereotypes. There were some parts that were more than hard to swallow, and I found myself saying "ok, come on this is not probable, lets move forward" and it usually did in a timely manner. The jokes were hard to miss and, for anyone that has spent some time in a relationship, will at some point relate to most of them. For instance, what I liked about the movie was the place that each of them chose to conceal their armory. It bled stereotypical in a funny way. I liked the movie. It is not a movie that leaves you pondering, if anything it is an escape from reality for at least an hour. I would see this in the theaters if you have the chance.

Great stuff!!! - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

I love spy movies with cool guys (like Mr. Pitt) and HOT girls (like Ms. Jolie). Grade A stuff. I couldn't ask for a more entertaining film than this. To all those who would critisize it, well you can go to you know where...

Mediocre.. cool idea, but action wasn't impressive - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

ok, this film was basically meant to use its big star attraction to bring in the droves of Brad swooners and Jolie ooglers... The actual plot concept had some neat promise. And Pitt and Jolie actually play well as potential elite assassins. They have the acting and physical prowess to make it seem, well, not believable, but watchable. But it seems like Director Doug Liman must have been on the set for the first few weeks of the filming, then just mailed in his instructions after that. What starts out kinda cool, and a neat juxtapositioning of the standard man v.s. woman stereotypes turns quickly into just about nothing. The plot disappears, the characters keep on fighting for no apparant reason, and well after a billion bullets later the movie goes back to how it started. The opening and ending scenes of dialog with Pitt, Jolie and an off-camera psychologist were the keepers in this movie. So don't show up late to this one if you go to see it in the theatre. Also, don't miss the 2 minute return to the shrinks office at the end.
My advice: Watch the intro clip with the shrink office dialog, sneak out and watch StarWars Epsiode III for your 4th time, then return just in time for the last 2 minutes of this movie. Why? Well, you get the 5 minutes of film worthwhile watching in this movie, some action and mindless violence that actually entertains (via StarWars III), and you don't have to bore yourself with being the only person who actually showed up for this lame movie (fun though it is), including the cast, writers and directing who clearly don't show up anywhere in the set of this movie shoot. It's a good thing they blow up a number of structures in this film, so that we at least feel like our money went to something worthwhile. Wait for DVD, folks.
Undoubtably, if you do go, you will find it occasionally charming, but the after taste of movie lameness will haunt you and your $9 ticket price for a few days...

Could you have written a better plot? - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

If you like storyless plots, predictable endings, one liners, and mediocre endings...and you think that would be a GREAT movie!, then this is for you. The movie is not directed with anything else in mind other than hollywood hype and pretty people to draw the crowds. Most scenes are grossly unbelievable.I would say if you are into quality movies with good story lines, don't waste your time with this one. I always ask myself, "could I have written a better plot"?, and if my answer is "yes", then it's a bad movie.

I believe i saw this once... o yah... cats vs dogs - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

When you mix a show dog with a pure-bred you dont expect to get a mut. Unfortunatley i guess that whats you call Pitt and Jolie starring in a movie together. However, this movie did serve its purpose; and like a true show-dog, it will be soon forgotten and put to sleep.
I am honestly sorry it turned out this way, but i believe it did what it was set out to do.
However, you cant call it a total failure. It did manage to entertain the audience and make them laugh; although the humor seemed to be somewhat filled with Pitty. Its got the action we crave and romance we seek; but it simply gets too old, too fast; just like a Cat and Dog; constantly fighting each other.

What an irresponsible pile of nothingness... - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

Oh yes...let's have as much gratituous violence as beautiful people run around asking for our sympathy and killing people. What the hell is this movie!? What is this, an NRA special. GROW UP, AMERICA...this is a dog!!!

Worst by far this early summer - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

Competeing assasin agencys have the airspace/perimeters etc of whole downtown?????Beyond Ludicrous. This flick is so bad that bad word of mouth will kill it at BO.

This movie is GREAT! I was so surprised with how much I loved it. Brad and Angelina do an amazing job in this movie. It is the perfect movie for EVERYONE! It has romance, comedy, thrills, and don't forget about the INCREDIBLE action sequences! This is, not only, the best movie of the year, but one of the best movies ever made!! OUTSTANDING MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!

Just your ordinary couple next door - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

I have never been a fan of Angelina Jolie but paired with Brad Pitt in this film they make a delightful couple. First of all they are a great looking couple and they comdically click. Their wit and sarcasm is very entertaining and full of dry humor. The plot is a bit contrived but what the hell - it's a movie and an actioned-packed one at that. It's a fun movie full of twists and turns and lots of great effects and their barbs to each other are a hoot!
Also worth mentioning is young Adam Brody, who has a small part but he has such a dry bumbling way about him that he is memorable.
What Mr. and Mrs. Smith can do to a quiet up-scale suburban home is worth the admission price alone. Also, their sessions with their therapist are priceless and just plain cute!

The wait is over...and it was worth it - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

I know, like most others, you've been waiting to see what all the hype is about. Brangelina has created a whirlwind of speculation about whether or not they're a couple in real life. For now none of us really know if Brad Pitt and Angelina are a real life couple, but we do know that the making of Mr. and Mrs. Smith was the starting point of the media frenzy. So you ask how is the movie? OUTSTANDING. Not because of the storyline (which could've easily been chalked up as another action movie with a hint of comedy), but the "chemistry" between Pitt and Jolie work to such combustable levels that you want to see the movie again (which I did). What surprised me is how often I laughed and though the action scenes are typical of the director, they did work well with the movie.
I personally enjoyed the back and forth banter between Pitt and Jolie once they realize that the other is an assassin. I also have to say one of the best parts of the movie are when Jolie and Pitt beat each other up and shoot at each other while destroying their home in the process. Once the fight scene is over and they have a gun in each others' faces they soon realize that although they kept their identity secret from each other, the love they have was not a cover for their secret lives. On a side note, Vince Vaughn steals a lot of the scenes he is in, but ultimately it's Pitt and Jolie who carry the movie from beginning to end.
Now if you were waiting for a hot sex scene be forwarned that the movie is PG-13 and you'll probably have to wait for the DVD to see some more sex. But if you're gonna plop down your $9.50 to see this movie, I can honestly say you won't be disappointed. Of course we know Brad and Angelina are serious eye candy, but I have to say that I have a newfound respect for their acting and comedic timing. Of course the movie won't be bringing any best actor and actress oscars for the dynamic duo, but I'm so used to Angelina being in good yet majorly depressing movies (anyone who's seen Gia or Girl Interrupted knows what I mean) that it's nice to see her stretch her acting chops with a romantic/comedy/action movie.
Another funny part is when, after dressing up as a dominatrix to kill her latest target, Mrs. Smith goes to a dinner party but soon realizes that although she changed into a nice cocktail dress, she forgot to change out of her fishnets and dominatrix boots. In the same scene, someone asks her to hold a baby and she is most uncomfortable holding the child (maybe because babies represent new lives and she is a woman trained to take them) So without giving too much of the movie away (and yes you probably have seen most of the movie by watching the trailers), overall this movie stands on it's own. And $51 million in their opening weekend proves that I'm not the only one who was waiting to see what the now named Brangelina look like onscreen. The only person who might want to skip this movie is Jennifer Aniston. But for the rest of us all I can say is the wait is over, and it was worth it.

Well done! - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

Great Direction
Great Acting
Great Music Score
Great Story
Great Tension
Great Movie!!
Brad & Angelina have amazing chemistry! HOT~ Now Brad can finally be himself! and I wasn't kidding about the music... the pizzacato violins & castanets they used reminded me of old time cartoons for that great 'sneak-around' element... must see it again if only just to see Angelina in latex & fishnets again.....

Brainless "fun" - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

It is well known scientific fact that when you use your brain it gets tired like every other organ and needs rest. This movie is a chance to rest your brain as you will not need it. Having said that, this movie begins as mindless fun, but nonetheless fun. Unfortunately, the movie soon wears out its welcome and becomes a carnage of action violence. In fact, for a PG13 movie this movie has an incredibly high body count and the fight scenes are quite violent. In one scene our "heroes" even run over someone with their car, apparently as a movie gag. Worth a look on DVD, but at current movie prices you might think twice.

Am i the only one not conned by this comely pair? - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

I didn't want to see this movie to begin with, but my mother really wanted to see it. I already had a preconceived bias to it, thinking this whole brad/angelina affair was more marketing stunt and sly manipulation of their fan base than anything of substance.
Regardless if the undeniably attractive onscreen pair are a couple in real life, looking good, cheesy banter, countless explosions, and preening behind a bountiful pucker on screen does not a good film make.
Yes, Angelina is a hottie. But fluttering her eyelashes and treating us to the many steep angles of mug is not my idea of compelling acting. I didn't buy into anything she was selling. There is nothing charming about her other than her physical attributes. She is not funny, talented or memorable beyond her exotic features. I found her performance wooden and flat.
The camera loves her costar too, but his acting did not convince me of any chemistry, or hide the fact that the script was a real stinker.
I felt the director expected the looks of his stars and the offscreen gossip to compensate for a mediocre script and high school drama class acting.
At many points in the movie, I felt we were watching Brad and Angelina read lines and make goo goo eyes at each other rather than seeing two people in character.
An ego-fest all around, and if the entire country buys into this load of fluff I would not be surprised at all.

Like a visit to the dmv... - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

This movie was long and predictable. Brad Pitt looks as if he has aged 10 years overnight and OMG Angelina is as stiff as an 80 year old on 200mg of Viagra... Whats up with Ebert he gives everything a thumbs up since Siskel checked out... Boo Boo Boo!!!!

Better than i thought!! - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

With all the Brad/Jennifer/Angelina hype going on, I thought this movie was going to be overblown & dumb, with all kinds of hidden digs, tiredness, but it was great! Vince Vaughn is really funny too!

I dont care what the tabloids say... - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

Half the people who hate this movie hate it because they are hardcore Jen Aniston/Friends fans. First of all there is still no evidence whatsoever that BP and AJ have had an affair. If it were true the paparazzi would have real pictures to show for it. When i say real pictures, i dont mean movie stills nor do i mean two seperate pictures photoshoped into one (ture story!! Shame on you Star magazine!). Their private lives are not mine or the publics concern. I cant believe anyone could write things so mean about such wonderful people. They donate a a big portion of their money (jolie gives 1/3) and go to third world countires to make a difference. I dont understand how anyone can say they're doing it for positive publicity. THERE CERTAINLY ARE LESS COSTLY AND LESS DANGEROUS WAYS to build a good reputation. I'm 15 and i am not ashamed to say that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are my role models. They are great actors, but they are even better people. They may be a little strange sometimes (esp angelina), but so what?? Didnt we all do some crazy things when we were young? Arnt we all a little strange in our own way?? YES!! THats what makes us human!! If we were normal, we'd be borning!! In a world that encourages conformity, they dare to be themselves and are not ashamed of it. Hollywood needs more stars like them. If you have must comment on what i said (negative or positive) feel free to e mail me at ****.com
Now, as for the movie. I loved it!! I was waiting for such a long time ot see it, and when i finally did, i was not dissapointed at all. They were a really good onscreen couple---best i've ever seen! I dont want to spoil the movie for anyone who wants to see it so i wont talk much about the storyline. All i have to say is this movie was made to entertain, and it does that. Go see it! You wont be sorry!

Horrible story - complete waste of time - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

Sure Pitt and Jolie are attractive, but with so many other good films to choose from, don't waste your money on this predictable, marginal story.

Mr. and mrs. hollywood...ho-hum! - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

This film is an odd case of a "great idea" with bad execution. There seems to be two camps for this film: People that wanted the 'Movie' to work and people who want 'Brad and Angelina' to work. Sadly neither does it for me. I'll explain.
The characters of Mr. & Mrs. Smith in theroy are very fascinating however, they're overshadowed by Mr. not being macho enough and Mrs. being to much of a man-hater in my opinion. I say this cause Mrs. never really shows any endearing qualities that make me believe she's worth marrying or salvaging. Mr. has a hard time trying to kill her cause he discover's he really does love her- even after she's tryed to kill him 3 times. He could've snuffed her already yet doesn't and stoops to simply defending himself. The plot is she's a bitter career women who only knows "her job" and he's stuck on her!- they just happen to be in the same profession. Mrs. although has over 300 kills while Mr. doesn't keep count (thinks it's 50-60's). Clearly someone's over compensating- lol.
Here's the real problem - Casting!. Especially Jolie who aside from being a sex fantasy for some men and women doesn't bring more than a smile. Pitt downplays his normal 'A Game' and just seems to be going thru the motions and doesn't have the devilish glee or smirk he's had in "Seven", "Fight Club", or "Ocean's 11&12". Here he's more domesticated and sentimental than Jolie and while comes off more likeable doesn't add much to his character either.
My thought is that the director hopes Pitt & Jolie are so pretty as people that they don't have to "put on a show". Two lesser and 'more hungry' stars really would've added stuff and made their characters watchable. I think John Cusack, Luke Wilson, or Jason Lee would've made a better MR. Smith. While Kate Beckensale, Eva Mendes, or even Anna Paquin would've brought some sex appeal, chemistry, and character quirks to Mrs. Smith. Jolie is a sex-bomb, so what! Her character could've had something likeable about her other than beauty- she doesn't!. You get lots jokes from Pitt about his love of domestic life via his job but, Jolie is a robot who lives by lists and schedules even her interns at her fake day job do her cooking which she passes off as her own to Mr. Smith (who reveals he's always hated her cooking).
Who steals the movie?- Vince Vaunge!. He was the most amusing and well placed person in the whole film. This film needed comedy and it certainly does well with Vaugn. There is a small cameo with some "O.C. actor" who pays homage to Pitt with a "Fight Club" T-shirt...that was as funny as anyone else got for me. The action scenes where brilliant top-notch ballets of destruction and bullets yet, again I surmise that 'Egos' ruled on the set as Jolie nevers seems to suffer nary a paper-cut after getting the crap kicked out her. Pitt gets stabbed, shot at, and assorted physical attacks and kinda shows it. If you think I'm giving anything away? Maybe but, I don't think you'll care if you goto see it.

What weren't they thinking? - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

I dunno. This one seems like an easy no-brainer to write. I mean, we've already had films like Prizzi's Honor and Grosse Pointe Blank. Shouldn't a comedy about assassins be pretty easy?
Yet this one just doesn't work. Pitt and Jolie don't act as if they are a happily married couple at any point, so why should they care if they blow each other away? The premise of the film is amusing, in a black comedy kind of way, which is something I like, but it goes nowhere.
There was a lot of potential in this film, but in the end all it is is a lot of wasted blank ammunition.

Just say no.... - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

I just saw the movie...and read Roger Eberts review... I am fully convinced that Ebert has
sold out to 'the movies'... he seldom gives a
bad review of a mainstream studio picture...
I miss Gene Siskel ... a lot... he kept Roger
honest.
This movie is the worst script writing and directing that I have seen in the past 3 decades.
It's that simple...it makes no sense...it has so
many holes in it that even swiss cheese would be envious.
What happened to good writing ? What happened to
plots that make sense and have clever twists ? Have we become such an easy sell that the things that are the key to great movies of the past (like a plot that makes sense)... are now just waved away as a burden to the car chases and pretty faces ?
I'm convinced Vince Vaughn must have written his own lines because he is the only amusing and clever thing in the entire movie... Don't waste your time or money on crap like this.... If you see this movie it will only encourage them to make more of the same.
Morn the end of what was once a good movie critic in Roger Ebert...and JUST SAY NO !

Very cool movie!! - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

If you want to be entertained...go see it!
Surprisingly, this movie combines action with romantic comedy in a very clever and subtle way. The story is great, there are a few twists happening, and the actors did a great job.
I can't imagine anyone who didn't like it. For me that is a totally entertaining movie!...definatelly worth your money.

Dumb fun - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

The action/comedy ?Mr. & Mrs. Smith? succeeds only when it focuses on its charismatic lead actors, who trade verbal barbs like punches. Whenever Mr. Smith (Brad Pitt) and Mrs. Smith (Angelina Jolie) are onscreen together, their chemistry makes up for a paper-thin plot. However, the film loses its course when fulfilling the action obligation of the genre. The action scenes are loud and filmed with a trembling hand by director Doug Liman (Go, The Bourne Identity). Further, the unnamed foe is altogether disinteresting: all the baddies are ?jobbers?; not one is a ?real? character in the film (heck, we don?t even see their faces!).
Thankfully, the comedy half is much better. There are times when this film is genuinely funny (again only in the scenes with Mr. Pitt and Ms. Jolie) and times when it is not (usually those scenes with Vince Vaughn, who is cast as the clich餠best friend).
Overall ?Mr. & Mrs. Smith? is dumb fun. It?s the kind of film you won?t regret paying money to see, but not one that holds up well under scrutiny. Then again, this sort of film isn?t supposed to be analysed.

Not cool enough - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

I always admire films with gender-equality theme. Mr. & Mrs. Smith, one of the biggest films of 2005, sufferes because of a substandard screenplay. Pitt and Jolie deliver good performances. The film is loaded with flaws. Overall, it fails to register an impact.

Angelina i love you - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

This movie is good cause of its comedy and action.
and jolie looked so hot in this film that i wish i was Mr.Smith in it. the movie has been made in a very good way showing comedy , action , and husband-wife relationship.actually the screenwriter of this film deserves appreciation to show such different story so magnificiently. But dont expect much from this movie its just another rib-tickling action movie.Brad Pitt was OK but angelina jolie was fantastic. All Husbands and Boyfrnds go watch it with ur ladyloves . and singles u can watch it with whoever u want 2 cuz its a movie made 4 everybody. Go watch it u'll have a good time.

Pleasantly surprised - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

I didn't have high expectations going into this movie, but I found myself enjoying the ride. You may have to suspend reality a bit to fully enjoy it, but it's worth it. Pitt and Jolie were both charming, and the story was quite enjoyable. One reason for this was that the trailers actually didn't give away the entire movie for once, so while it didn't throw me for any crazy spins, nothing was painfully predictable either. There's a lot of fun action in this flick, but it maintains a light sense of fun about itself. If you choose to embrace this mood, you will find yourself having a great time.

It's a b movie with bite! - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

Ever feel like you want to kill your partner over the littlest thing at one moment and you can't live without them the other? Well, that's the feeling of this movie. If you have seen Star Wars Episode III and want to see another movie, this one is a funny and enjoyable ride with a side of wit.

Battle of sexes - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

One of the most hyped films recently. Full credit should go to the producers and distributors for the brilliant lavish marketing. Other than good marketing and the starcast, it has nothing to offer. One of the bad films of 2005. A combination of bad story and poor screenplay. It never takes off goes and down the ladder throughout. The acting is okay. Despite of all the flaws, good promotion will provide a big boost at the box office.

Mr. and mrs. smith - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

I thought the movie was wild and funny. Jolie stole the show. The cast was great and the effects were great. The best movie Iv seen this year. It is a little like War of the Roses. I loved the movie and think that it is a must see for the summer. It was better than I thought it was going to be. It is worth the price of admission. It is a little violent at times for a PG-13 but It is still a great movie to see. It is more than just a action movie and more than a comedy. It is a movie than can be turned into a major franchise if done right and it has been done right. Three cheers for MR. and MRS. Smith.

The war of the roses part 2!!! - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

C'mon this was as hollywood as you can get. You have Brad and Angelina. First of this movie had no plot. A couple that was married for 5 or 6 years and suffered from boredom. Little did they know that they were secretly the worlds top asassins. Then they spend 90 minutes trying to kill each other. Well for pointless fun I would recomend it, for a great movie go see The Cinderella Man.!!

Pitt & jolie are perfect together - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

John Smith(Pitt) & Jane Smith(Jolie) Are A Married Couple That Is Bored With Each Other And Is Surprised To Learn That They Are Hired To Kill Each Other. Neither Of Them Knew That The Other Was An Assassin But Will Soon Find Out. Excellent Movie. Probably My Favorite Brad Pitt Movie Ever.

What's the point of the movie?? - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

Bad story + over acting = worst movie of the summer.
I am not sure why people like this move but I am for sure can't enjoy it at all. Stupid story, shallow character, lack of development - this movie is just about two "professional" killers killing people for fun and look cool. They are profession killers and they can't tell their other half is a profession killer at all -ha -that's show how "professional" they are.
The funny thing is that such profession killers can't seem to "kill" each with all the time spent running around shooting, bombing, etc, etc... The whole movie make it sounds like running around killing people is good and fun, and there will be no harm done. This moive is beyond bad!

Mr. and mrs. summer movie - Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reviews

Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2005)
Staring: Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie
Directed by: Doug Liman
What It's About:
A bored married couple, leading secret double lives as ruthless assassins, suddenly find themselves squared off being their next target is each other.
The Good:
Brad Pitt simply has a certain way with his roles, and this movie is no exception. Pitt has the size and feel of an action hero, but the same time, comedic timing and expressions both in his tone and facial reactions. What?s fun to watch is that Jolie has just as good material as Pitt, so in a way, you feel like the actors ARE playfully trying to outdo each other with comedy and action. This sets a nice stage for some good chemistry. The action is fairly top notch, with some notable ?that was cool? scenes. Vince Vaughn also does his best (and succeeds) at stealing scenes every now and again.
The Bad:
Something that may stand out to audiences is the score. Upon first watch, the score does not seem to fit very well to the action on the screen, and had it been retailored, may have been able to ?pump up? the movie a little bit more. Mr. and Mrs. Smith also tries to dabble too much in too many genres and often times goes a little bit too much on the serious side in terms of drama. This is an attempt to make the characters seem more realistic and deeper, but it?s really unnecessary given the obvious off the wall nature of the film. This isn?t a huge point, but it may stand out a little glaringly to people watching. Oh, there also seems to be a really huge inconsistency that people may or may not pick up?
Recommendation:
This is a great popcorn summer movie; exact fodder for this time of year. People will know exactly what they are getting into when buying their ticket - the trailers exactly fit the feel of the movie. Most people will want to watch for the eye candy, and there certainly is plenty of it, both with Pitt and Jolie, and the explosion of pretty much everything in the movie. It?s funny, it?s energetic, it?s worth seeing in the theaters.
Trivia:
Nicole Kidman was the original Mrs. Smith
Catherine Zeta-Jones was also considered for Mrs. Smith, while Johnny Depp and Will Smith were considered for Mr. Smith.
